Getting my luggage
After finally arriving at the country of destination, I went to the baggage handling to get my bag. I waited around 20 minutes while most of the other passengers had already gathered their luggage. When I saw an airport crew member I asked if there were more bags to come, he said yes, so I still had hope that mine would arrive.
I kept waiting and waiting until two other staff members asked me for my name (I guess that’s because they couldn’t pronounce it 😛 ) So when I told them my name, they told me to go to the luggage office desk, but they didn’t tell my why, this made me very worried. I started to think there might be something in my bag that was prohibited. But then I discovered my bag was still in Sydney. I was kind of relieved that I didn’t commit an offence but bothered at the same time because I didn’t know if and when I would get my bag back, and I didn’t have any clothes to change into and I hadn’t showered for three days.
All I could do was give them my details and some numbers from my university.
As I waited to find out more I stood outside of the airport, breathing New Zealand air for the first time. 🙂 It was cold winter weather but I stilled enjoyed it.
So the next stop was the bus stop. It took about 20 minutes to get into the city of Auckland. From there I had to walk another 10 minutes to my hotel. It was a really good feeling to have a shower, a bed and nobody around me 😛 The only thing which was not so great was that I had to put back on my old clothes after having a shower. But hey, I had a great king size bed all to myself after 30 hours of travelling! 🙂
